David Tennant sees double

TennantDavid Tennant requires a double starring role as twin teachers at rival schools in "Nativity 2," a follow-up to Darlene Isitt's 2009 U.K. hit comedy. Pic, backed by U.K. distrib Entertainment One, started shooting March. 17 for six days inside the British Midlands and North Wales. Like the first movie, the lower-budget follow-up relies around a university putting on a Christmas performance competing together with other schools. Tennant, most broadly noted for "Physician Who," plays a temp teacher who must lead several under-achieving kids inside the national contest, while his golden-boy brother (also Tennant) leads the job in the classy rival school. Written and directed by Isitt, the pic is produced by Nick Manley of Mirrorball Films, and co-funded by Premiere Picture and Media Professional Six. Contact the number newsroom at news@variety.com
